And the last intricate and successful part of this mod – the chipset cooler. This pleasure cost me the price of ZM80D-HP video adapter cooler. In the set there are two long, flexible, high-quality heat pipes, two micro heat blocks and even two micro-tubes of thermal paste. So this set was used to organize chipset cooling.

If I’m not mistaken I’ve told you everything. The CPU is an INTEL Pentium 4 541 (3,2GHz), not overclocked. My video adapter is weak as I don’t play games at all. It works fine with its stock passive heatsink and its performance is enough for me. The power unit is also stock, It's a fanless Thermaltake. I’ll write later about hard drive noise damping system. That device was intricately made and is worth a separate article.

All of my design flaws are clearly seen, i.e. heat exchanger under the motherboard, motherboard itself hanging in five centimeters over the base and mounted upside down and of course inefficient aluminium heat blocks. As a result of all these “merits” in summer my computer worked with 120 mm fan which I placed on top, having taken away the printer. However this lasted only one month and mostly not because of necessity but to make sure… This is my first computer of such type and I promise that the next one will be OK in any weather. In spite of all the defects the computer has already been working for 8 months. Another completely new prototype is being constructed.
The prime cost of the build turned out moderate. Thermaltake Big Typhoon Cooler – 40$, ZM80D – 20$, two heatsinks purchased in a shop with nice staff – 40$, 15$ for the aluminium base plate and some money spent on the small items plus the cost of a branded fanless power unit. And a great pleasure of work in the evenings… I’m glad with the reward for my work. Now no drone prevents me from falling asleep listening to the ticking of my favourite clock in the hall and gentle snuffing of beloved nose to my shoulder…
