Mark and drill the plate. Punch each hole to prevent the drill from sliding. Bevel the both sides of the holes. ALL the component parts must be thoroughly cleaned out by blowing and washed with water and soap in order to remove the tiniest sawdust. During radiator assembling the sawdust may get between angle bars and the base and significantly worsen the heat transfer.

Apply a thin layer of thermal paste on the plate and rivet the angle bars. The excess paste will inevitably seep between angle bars. Remove it later when the radiator will be assembled. It should be done with a rug wetted in acetone or spirits.

There is a small ruse in the edge angle bar construction, more precisely in its fastening. Two angle bars are fastened overlapped one to another as shown in the photo. There is no veiled sense here. This is done only for appearance, to make radiator angles look equally, as if they are ready-made… Don’t be scared by the fact that one radiator fin will be 1.5 mm higher. This will be imperceptible.

There is one more small ruse. A typical Chinese rivet gun has too thick working section. That makes it impossible to creep between the plates. Shorten its beak by means of emery as shown in the picture. I’d like to mention that there are several types of such rivet guns on sale. It’s better to buy a tool which has the thinnest beak. Fortunately the required device is the cheapest one. Its cost is only 6 $...

That’s all. The radiator is completed. You may wipe the excessive thermal paste and proceed to regrinding of the base for heat removers fastening. Rear view may scare an extempore reader… Don’t make fun of it, there is no good aluminium in the country. What could I do?.. I was proposed either to buy a plate of 1×6 meters or have nothing…

Now you must fasten the radiator to the cabinet side and proceed to fanless computer manufacture. Think over thoroughly all future construction and component parts and blocks position before sawing angle bars and other parts. I recommend you to treat angle bars carefully, the aluminium is cheap and can be easily scratched. I advise people who are going to perform such modding to make at least three rows of rivets; I didn’t think over this detail thoroughly at the time of my modding…
I wish everyone good modding, SilentMods.com
