Silent hard disk in cardboard box
After the victory over vibration and clang we must make one more thing – noise protecting casing for hard disk. For the casing manufacture we’ve chosen advanced technology and unique material which wouldn’t clang in any case.., I’ve made it of cardboard :) The method is not innovative and has some similarity with the technology of glass-fiber material and papier-mâché manufacture. It is very simple. Make a cardboard box and saturate it with epoxide resin. The casing isn’t exposed to any power load, so one layer of cardboard of 1.5 mm will be enough. To make resin more fluid, you may dilute it with spirit or acetone; the dissolvent will have evaporated before the resin polymerize.
The process of casing manufacture is easy to comprehend by the pictures.

Mark and cut.

Assemble and lubricate.

To provide better saturation you may hair-dryer.

Paste it over with foamed polyvinylchloride according to technology described in previous articles about silent hdd and noiseless hard drive, assemble and install the modded wizardry into the computer. That’s all. We wish you good modding SilentMods.com

| Non-constructive thoughts about modding... |
All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
