Modding "MegaBox"
3. Power unit. Specially bought unit CollerMaster 450W served as a power unit, distinguished by 120 mm light fan, silence and stability of work. The unit lost its case, board on plastic stubs is fixed in the bottom block of the case. All cables have been disassembled and sorted out anew by supply lines. Getting rid of SATA, a socket for Pentium motherboards and part of wires on system socket (I have 20 contacts against 24 on the power unit), it was possible to get in total 5 standard Molex-outputs. Wires are put in flexible steel hoses. Edges of hoses are protected with thermocontraction and rigidly attached to molexes with steel bracket. All power cables have been shortened up to the necessary length, hoses are led out through the plate with engraved inscriptions. Totally it made: two hoses for motherboard, HDD, CD_1, CD_2, Video, plus two outputs +3V (for illumination of case bottom with UV-diodes), output +12V, and the cable for power indicator.

4. DVD-ROM. Usual standard methods of drive modding did not fit somewhat, so it was necessary to invent my own method. As a result the upper cover of the drive was removed, plate for pressing of the disk was shortened, inner illumination was inserted, tray vibration dumping was improved with pieces of foam propylene, stealth-face-panel was made.

5. HDD Here everything is easy: cover of sealed block was removed and replaced to the acryl one. Indeed, because of protruded fixing system of the heads axes it was necessary to make acryl profile of 5 mm and to add acryl washer of 3,5 mm (without it HDD did not work due to mistakes of positioning). After assembling the seams were pasted tightly with adhesive tape and covered with mirror self-adhesive film for appearance. Illumination from one diode connected to PowerLED.

| Non-constructive thoughts about modding... |
All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
